“False Prophet,” Volume 4 of “Rurouni Kenshin: Wandering Samurai” offers up five episodes from what I am inclined to think is the start of the second season of the Japanese anime because there is a new song for the end titles. After the epic four-episode battle between Himura Kenshin and Aoshi Shinomori these episodes are less ambitious and a probably just a lull before the next major storm. The most important think that happens in these five episodes is the return of Megumi Takani, who is now practicing medicine in town. Since we know that Kenshin and Karou are going to take forever to really notice each other have Sanosuke Sagara pinning for Megumi looks a lot more promising:

Episode 13, “Strive for the Grand Championship: Taramaro’s Sumo Battle Log” has the gang becoming involved in the workings of a sumo school, touching on another aspect of Japanese culture.

Episode 14, “Save a Small Life: The Challenge of the Beautiful Doctor, Megumi” finds the good doctor’s reputation being attacked by a group of con men who promise cures by the gods. Megumi does not want to fight back, but that is what friends are for in such sticky situations.

Episode 15, “Assassination Group of Fire: Jipuu Squad on the Run” is where “Rurouni Kenshin” actually starts offering us teasers before the episode title. The politics of the Meji Restoration comes into play again as the motivation for a series of assassinations. Once again a master swordsman comes upon the scene who has failed to fully understand the teachings of his sensei. The story continues in the next Episode 16, “A Promise From the Heart: The Secret Technique of the Shiden Renga Blade,” and are the two best episodes on the DVD.

Episode 17, “Fly to Your Dreams: The Adventures of Marimo, the Human Bullet” has the gang visiting a new circus where the highlight has young Marimo being shot out of a cannon. Once again “little” Yahiko is smitten and when the girl and her father are in danger from the crooked operators of the circus they left, he leads the rescue effort.

“False Prophet” certainly provides a mixture of both of the type of episodes you see on “Rurouni Kenshin.” Mostly we have cute little episodes where the members of the group have fun doing some verbal sparring with each other and then we have a pair of episodes where things get more serious. Those are the best episodes and they make the quainter onces seem rather out of place, but then this strange balancing act is part of what makes this one of the better anime. The extras this time around consist of a lengthy set of notes involving a lot of sumo definitions (ozeki, yokozuna, dosukoi, etc.) and some more audio “outtakes” (which are R rated, so be forewarned before you let the kiddies watch).

I’ve bought all 3 volumes before this one, and this volume is great! Besides the other kenshin DVDs, this one contains 5 episodes (the past dvds had 4) – so I was pretty suprised and happy! I don’t watch the English version because the “that i am, that i will” stuff annoys me, and I have no idea why they even used it in the subtitles for the japanese version (that they did) – but just like on the 2nd volume, you can check out the extras menu – and find out-takes from the voice actors & actresses of the Enlish dub. It’s very funny to hear them actually mess up on scenes! This dvd is very exciting, and action packed! Looking forward to more Kenshin volumes on dvd! Highly recomended anime!!

In 2007, Shonda Rhimes (creator/executive producer of “Grey’s Anatomy” and writer of “The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement”) developed a spin-off of “Grey’s Anatomy” titled “Private Practice” based on the life of Dr. Addison Montgomery (Kate Walsh) . “Private Practice – The Complete Second Season” is presented in Widescreen (1:78:1) – Enhanced for 16×9 televisions. Whereas “Grey’s Anatomy” tends to be focused indoors, inside the hospital, “Private Practice” has a slick California eye. Indoor scenes are well-lit and outdoor scenes are quite vibrant but viewers will inspect the grain in the series. Even during the low-light scenes, you do survey a bit of noise but compared to other drama series on television, the series is above average in terms of characterize quality on DVD.

As for audio, the series is presented in Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound. The series similar is primarily dialogue driven, so it’s splendid worthy front and center channel driven. JUDGMENT CALL:

With the first season of “Private Practice” receiving so-so reviews, the “Grey’s Anatomy” spin-off needed to accomplish certain that the second season was notable enough to captivate the audience’s attention enough to pause for all 22 episodes.

So, what better with the country’s economy affecting private practices, to note Oceanside Wellness Center in a similar jam. The early episodes tend to focus on the company on the verge of bankruptcy and the Addison doing what she can to prevent the company from bankruptcy and hoping for the private practice to emerge from its problems.

But along with the company problems, each of the main characters have their beget major issues.

Addison deals with major issues with the company (and eventually leading the company), problems with men, the return of her brother (and her brother working for the rival practice), her relationship with her friend Naomi starts to grow apart and we glean to watch Addison and McDreamy once again during the “Grey’s Anatomy” cross-over.

This season’s like triangle appears to be between Pete-Violet-Sheldon. As Violet becomes pregnant, she is not determined who the father of the baby is and both men makes things more complicated when each want to be with her. But if anything, the most valuable fraction of season two is Violet’s character at the season finale and to say the least, it will be inspiring to procure out if a major character does not develop it for the rest of season three.

As for Naomi and Sam, things bag quite tantalizing with them as Naomi now finally moves on with her life and starts to date other men (including Addison’s brother Archer), while Sam starts to point to more wretchedness over Naomi as she is seen sneaking off quite often from the practice.

As for Cooper, his storyline becomes the Cooper-Charlotte storyline and Cooper now wanting to be there for his obliging friend Violet and proceed in with her and benefit her during her pregnancy, while Charlotte being the cold-hearted doctor of St. Ambrose and later on developing a rival practice against Oceanside Wellness, she becomes more jealous of the time Cooper spends with Violet.

And as for Dell, he has to deal with his ex-girlfriend’s drug problems and finding out that he has a daughter and gets into an even more complicated area. Talk about a character who’s likability seems to have fallen.

And as the characters face their major issues, on the medical ruin, the series deals with ethical and accurate issues. The series definitely received some controversy with episodes such as episode 20 titled “Contamination” which dealt with autism and whether or not vaccinations do cause autism, another that dealt with sexual relationship between a woman and a young teenage boy, accidental switching of embryos, physician-assisted suicide and siblings who have sex with each other and more. Needless to say, both Shondra Rhimes and Betsy Beers definitely wanted to push the button on positive medical issues.

But allotment of the plight with “Private Practice” is that it seems as if the writers can not sustain up the quality of writing with many of their characters and some are not getting the time that they need. I felt that this was an angsty season and a season where characters storylines were a bit uneven. Writers…please rep Addison a decent man instead of having her tumble for someone that is always taken. Also, remember… Sam? He needs a storyline. And Dell, this character is really being jerked around quite a bit. “Angsty” seems to be my word to characterize season 2. And to cap it off, a season finale that takes a epic from what we view in the front page and definitely a shaded and crooked finale that I was surely not expecting.

Overall, “Private Practice – The Complete Second Season” had a grand number of attractive episodes and the chemistry of the characters are ravishing superb and overall, I indulge in the problems and rivalry among the private practices but when it comes to the characters and their storylines, I’m hoping Season 3 is less angsty.

If “Grey’s Anatomy” stars can have its up and downs but yet rep some happiness, I hope the characters of “Private Practice” at least win some of that for season 3.

I esteem private practice. At times I would seize to eye this than the madness of Grey’s Anatomy. Don’t pick up me inappropriate. I’m a hardcore Grey’s Fan. Its unbiased sometimes Private Practice is a nice change.

I absolutley despise some people on Grey’s and there overblown storylines. But I can honestly say I like everyone on PP. And their patients are spicy too. Don’t even bag me started on the “Baby Daddy” drama.

Most people don’t want to give it a try because Addison isn’t walking the halls of Seattle Grace but she holds here believe at Oceanside Wellness.
